Shelly Farnham's Project History

I have participated in the development of many social technologies, playing an increasingly lead role over the years across all phases of projects  including brainstorming, design, implementation, and evaluation.  I have a strong quantitative background with an expertise in operationalizing social constructs from interaction behavior, and many of my prototyping projects at Microsoft Research (MSR) involved analyzing user behavior from usage data to develop measures of implicit social groups and social relationships.  More recent projects at MSR explored the use of social technologies for social networking --Wallop -- and for mobile social coordination -- Swarm and Slam. My latest work has focused on using social networks as a context for sharing stories, playing games, and going to events.
